Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).

Question Hour

Questions relating to Irrigation and Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal Departments were asked and Ch Khalid Mehmood Jajja, Parliamentary Secretary for Irrigation, and Haji Muhammad Ilyas Ansari, Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal answered the questions.

Privilege Motion

The Privilege Motion moved by Mrs.‏ Raheela Anwar regarding irresponsive attitude of Mr Mujahid Akbar, DPO, Jehlum with the member concerned who did not reply to her repeated calls to register her complaint against the firing incident on her dera injuring her son and employees was referred to the Committee on Privileges with the direction to submit its report within two weeks.

The Motion was answered by Rana Sana Ullah Khan, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.

Adjournment Motions

Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. The Motion moved by Ms Azma Zahid Bukhari that students who could not send admission for Annual Board Examination were not allowed to appear in supplementary examination by Punjab Board was referred to the Standing Committee on Education with the direction to submit its report within two months. The Motion moved by Mr Ehsan Riaz Fatyana that thousands of cases are pending in the Board of Revenue due to shortage of judicial members and staff, consequently citizens are facing problems especially coming from other cities to attend the hearing of their cases and get the next date of hearing on regular basis was, kept pending till next session. The Motion moved by Mr Amjad Ali Javed regarding 15 lacs students of primary and middle classes in Punjab who passed examinations with distinction are not receiving scholarships for the last four years, despite the fact that funds of millions of rupees are allocated for the purpose whereas, students of Matric class are regularly receiving their scholarships, was disposed of.

Private Members’ Day

Resolution pending from September 1, 2015

The Resolution moved by Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal was unanimously passed by the House wherein he while condemning terrorist activities praised the role of institutions and persons fighting against terrorism and demanded to officially declare “Shaheed” who sacrificed their lives for the country and same privileges be conferred upon the dependents of legislators, Ministers and other political figures who laid their lives while fighting for terrorism as are bestowed upon the dependents of martyrs of security forces.

Current Resolutions on the Agenda of September 8, 2015

1.    The Resolution moved by Dr. Syed Waseem Akhtar regarding compensation and early rehabilitation of flood affected people in South Punjab was unanimously passed by the House.

2.    Mr. Muhammad Sibtain Khan moved a resolution urging to ensure the sale of meat in markets at fixed government rates was unanimously passed by the House.

3.    Mr. Ramesh Singh Arora moved a resolution to name any road or building of Lahore after Maharaja Ranjeet Singh for his glorifying services was unanimously passed by the House.

4.    The Resolution moved by Ms Khadija Umar condemning Indian aggression on the Working Boundary leading to deaths of civilians and declaring this to be violation of UN Charter and human rights and commending the role of Pakistan Army in fight against its enemy and to preserve the country’s national security and urging the federal government to raise India’s act of terrorism and violation of human rights on international forums was unanimously passed by the House.

5.    The Resolution moved by Mrs.‏ Nabila Hakim Ali Khan calling for an end of entry tests for admissions to medical colleges and universities was kept pending till next Session.

The House was then adjourned sine die.
