Effective oversight and accountability are fundamental to good governance. In the Provincial Assembly of Punjab, there is a need to strengthen parliamentary oversight mechanisms to ensure transparency and accountability in government operations. Currently, MPAs often lack the tools and training required to conduct effective oversight and hold the government accountable.
To address this, we propose:
1. Enhancing parliamentary oversight mechanisms by introducing advanced tools and techniques for monitoring government performance.
2. The development of a framework for regular audits and reviews of government projects and policies.
3. Organize capacity-building initiatives for MPAs focusing on skills development in areas such as budget analysis, performance evaluation, and public accountability.
The expected outcomes of these interventions will ultimately lead to better governance and increased public trust through:
1. Improved transparency and accountability in government operations.
2. Enhanced oversight mechanisms will lead to more effective monitoring and evaluation of government projects and policies.
3. Capacity-building initiatives will equip MPAs with the skills needed to conduct rigorous oversight, thereby fostering a culture of accountability within the Assembly.
