Maher Ijaz Ahmad Achlana son of Maher Bhadar Achlana was born on January 15, 1966 at Layyah and is a law graduate. An agriculturist, who served as Member, District Council Layyah during 1991-93 and 1998-99. He remained Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 2002-07, 2008-13, 2013-18 and functioned as Parliamentary Secretary for Home during 2013-16 and Minister for Disaster Management during 2016-18. He has returned to the Punjab Assembly for the fourth consecutive term on PML-N ticket in General Elections 2018. He has visited Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Norway, Nepal, Sweden and Denmark. His wife, Mrs Rehana Ijaz was Member of Punjab Assembly during 2008-13 and also functioned as Chairperson, Standing Committee on Tourism & Resort Development. They were the first couple in the history of Punjab Assembly who had become MPAs simultaneously in 2008.
