SPECIAL COMMITTEE NO. 04
No.PAP/Legis-1(19)/2024/56. During the sitting of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab on June 3, 2024, the Questions relating to Schools Education and Agriculture Departments were on the List of Business. During the course of proceedings, it was pointed out by the movers of Questions that answers to their Questions relating to Schools Education Department were factually wrong. It was also pointed out that out of 30 Questions of Schools Education Department, answers to 14 Questions were not provided to Assembly Secretariat within time specified in the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997. In addition to that two Privilege Motions were also moved in the House against the conduct of Secretary Schools Education. The Speaker, therefore, with the consensus of the House constituted a Special Committee No. 04 in terms of rule 187 of the Rules of Procedure of Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997, consisting of the following:
1. Mr Mujtaba Shuja Ur Rehman, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Convenor
2. Rana Sikandar Hayat, Minister for School Education Member
3. Mr Ahmad Khan, (PP-87)/Leader of the Opposition Member
4. Mr Shafay Hussain, Minister for Industries, Commerce & Investment Member
5. Syed Ali Haider Gilani, MPA (PP-213) Member
6. Mr Aftab Ahmad Khan, MPA (PP-108) Member
7. Mr Asad Abbas, MPA (PP-18) Member
8. Mr Ghazanfar Abbas, MPA (PP-91) Member
9. Mr Ghulam Murtaza, MPA (PP-241) Member
10. Mr Mehmood Ahmad, MPA (PP-55) Member
2. The Special Committee shall probe into the following:
i) Furnishing of wrong answers by the School Education Department on June 3, 2024;
ii) the answers to 14 Questions were not provided by the School Education Department within time; and
iii) Privilege Motions moved by Mr Shaukat Raja, MPA (PP-9) and Mr Hassan Zaka, MPA (PP-110).
3. The Special Committee shall submit its report, along with its recommendations, to the Assembly by June 7, 2024.
