Suspension of Rules
On a motion moved by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, in terms of Rule 234 of The Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab 1997, the House granted leave to suspend Rule 11(1) and 12(3) of the Rules ibid, for taking up the following Resolution which was passed by the House:

Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, moved a Resolution that Ch Parvez Elahi on being elected as Chief Minister Punjab, the office of Speaker had become vacant, therefore, the House suspended the Rule 11(1) and 12(3) for Election of Speaker and vote of no Confidence against Deputy Speaker to be fixed on Friday, 29 July 2022 at 04:00 p.m.
Announcement of Election Procedure for Speaker
The Chairman, announced the procedure for the election of Speaker to be held tomorrow i.e. on Friday at 04:00 p.m. by secret ballot as envisaged in Rules 9 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997. Today i.e. on 28 July 2022 at any time before 5.00 p.m., nomination papers would be delivered to the Secretary Assembly. Nomination papers could be obtained from the office of Secretary Assembly. The scrutiny of nomination papers would be held today i.e. 28 July, 2022 at 05:10 p.m. in the office of Secretary Assembly. The voting would be held tomorrow i.e. on 29 July, 2022. A candidate would be allowed to withdraw his candidature at any time before the commencement of the election by submitting an application in writing. On the day of election two polling booths would be set up. However, in case of one candidate he would be elected unopposed. Newly elected Speaker would make oath in the form set out in the Third Schedule of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973.
The House was then adjourned at 03:50 p.m. to meet on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 04:00 p.m.
