with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool ﷺ.

As a result of General Elections held on 25 July 2018, 17th Provincial Assembly of the Punjab had its first sitting on 15 August, 2018 to administer oath to the members elect. Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker presided over the sitting of Assembly under rule 6(2) of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997.
Oath
The newly members-elect made an oath as Member of the Punjab Assembly in terms of Article 65 of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973 read with rule 6 (1) of Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997, and signed the Roll of Members in terms of rule 7 of the rules ibid. Mr. Speaker administered the oath.
Panel of Chairmen
Under Rule 13(1) of Rules of the Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997, Mr. Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Secretary Assembly announced the Panel of Chairmen nominated by Mr. Speaker in the following order:-
1. Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan (PP-176)
2. Mr. Khalil Tahir Sindhu (NM-368)
3. Sadia Sohail Rana (W-313)
4. Syed Hassan Murtaza (PP-95)
Election Procedure for Speaker and Deputy Speaker
Mr. Muhammad Khan Bhatti, Secretary Punjab Assembly, announced the procedure for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker as envisaged in Rules 9 and 10 of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997.
The House was then adjourned at 12:56 p.m. to meet on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.
