Mrs Shameela Aslam wife of Mian Muhammad Aslam was born at Multan. She obtained the degrees of B.Ed. in 1985 and MA (Islamic Studies) in 1989 from Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. She has served as lecturer at Saint Joseph Hall High School, Multan and at Islamia College of Education, Multan. She started her political career as a Union Councillor. She served as Member, District Council Vehari and as Member, District Public Safety & Police Complaints Commission Vehari during 2001-08 for two terms. An eminent political and social worker, who has been serving in a number of NGOs. She has been working on issues like education, violence against women and children and has received seven awards for her best performance for working on these issues. She has also served as Chairperson, Women Crises Centre Vehari; and as Chairperson, Punjab Youth Festival and Sports Committee Tehsil Vehari during 2011-13. She was Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 2008-13 and has been re-elected against one of the seats reserved for women. She has been serving as Member, Standing Committees on Education and Literacy & Non-Formal Basic Education; and as Member Syndicate, Women University Multan, since 2010.
