He held the portfolio of Minster for Health during 1985-87; Minister for Health and Communication & Works in 1988; and, is presently serving as Minister (Ceased to hold office of Minister upon proclamation of Emergency dated 12-10-99) for Housing, Urban Development & Public Health Engineering, with additional charge of Environment Protection.
