Mrs Shela Rathor wife of Mr Shahid Mehmood Butt was born at Gujranwala. She obtained the degree of LL.B. in 2001 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. A practising lawyer and a keen social worker, who works for women’s community development in rural areas. She served as Member/Convenor, Social Welfare, Zila Council, Sialkot during 1998. She has been elected as Member Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in General Elections 2002 against one of the seats reserved for women; and has been appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare on August 5, 2003. She has travelled to Germany, France, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Her husband served as Member Punjab Assembly during 1997-99; her uncle, Mian Afzal Hayat served as caretaker Chief Minster Punjab; and her uncle, Justice (Retd) Muhammad Afzal Lone was Senator during 1997.
