Mr Hussain Jahania Gardezi, son of Syed Mohib Jahania Gardezi, was born on November 6, 1956 at Multan. He obtained the degree of M.Sc (Hon’s) in 1980 from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. An agriculturist, who served as Member Union Council during 1983; and as Leader of Opposition in Zila Council, Khanewal during 1991. He was elected as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 1993-96 and performed the duties of Minister for Cooperatives during the tenure. He has returned to the Punjab Assembly for the second term in General Elections 2002. He worked as Minister for Non-Formal Basic Education from January 4, 2003 to November 30, 2006. He is functioning as Minister for Food since December 1, 2006. His uncle, Syed Ali Hussain Shah Gardezi was Member, Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1951-55 and served as Minister for Industries; his uncle, Mr Abbas Hussain Gardezi was Member, National Assembly during 1972-77; his uncle, Mr Muhammad Razi Shah Gardezi was Member, Punjab Assembly during 1972-77; and his cousin, Mr Muhammad Ahsan was Member, Punjab Assembly during 1985-88 and 1990-93.
