Dr Muhammad Ashraf Chohan son of late Ch Muhammad Sharif Chohan of Khiali Gujranwala is an orthopaedic surgeon and practices in London, UK. He obtained the degree of MBBS in 1982 from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore and also remained General Secretary of Students Union of the College. After working for 6 years in Services Hospital, he went to Ireland and after working there for two years, he did his FRCS in 1989 from the UK. He gained training from all the famous hospitals of the UK before starting his practice at Harley Street, London in 1996. He worked as Consultant for N.H.S till he developed interest in Pakistan politics and contested general elections held in 2002. He also took part in UK politics where he was chosen as parliamentary candidate from conservative party. He is also the President of UK-Pakistan, Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is a regular columnist for national newspapers. He is desirous of utilizing his experience of more than 20 years in British health sector to uplift the appauling and pathetic health and social conditions of Pakistan. He has major interest in health, environment and population control.
