Ch Zaheer-ud-Din Khan son of Ch Muhammad Bashir was born on February 22, 1945 at Gurdaspur, . He graduated in 1969 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. An agriculturist and a businessman, who served as Member, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab during 1988-90, 1993-96 and 2002-07; and also functioned as Parliamentary Secretary during 1993 and as Minister for Communication and Works during 2003-07. He has returned to the Punjab Assembly for the fourth term in general elections 2008 and is functioning as Leader of the Opposition and as Chairman, Public Accounts Committee-I. His grandfather, Ch Ali Akbar, served as Member of Punjab Legislative Council during 1921-23 and 1924-26 and as Member, Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1937-45 and 1946-47; and his uncle, Ch Muhammad Munir, was a Member of Punjab Legislative Assembly during 1951-55.
