Speaker Punjab Assembly, Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, has said that the dream of establishing true democracy in the country can only be materialized through a stable political system. It is the need of the day that all the political parties should make collective efforts for the strong democratic system. Democracy brings freedom to the oppressed people and provide equal rights to all citizens. The Muslim scholars and scientists played a vital role in the progress of mankind. Today’s given difficult situation demands the countrymen imbibe the teachings of Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal. We can over come the tremendous problems and challenges of the day, if we learn and act upon the great ideas of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan was addressing the 132nd Birth Anniversary of our national poet and philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, being observed by the Pakistani Community at London, yesterday. Rana Muhammad Iqbal, is on two weeks’ tour of United Kingdom and other European countries, these days.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan paying tribute to our national hero said that through his poetry and lectures, Allama Muhammad Iqbal had taken the Muslims out of slumber and forcefully pleaded for an independent state of Muslim of the Sub-Continent where they could live according to their creed, culture and traditions. His dream for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-Continent, was converted into reality by Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s poetry in Urdu and Persian is considered to be among the greatest of modern era. Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said that Allama Muhammad Iqbal had been an institution which changed the course of history and gave a new spirit and awareness to the Muslims. His lectures were meant for the opinion makers and scholars.

The Speaker urged the nation to rebuild Pakistan by drawing inspirations from his vision. He said that they must move forward according to changing requirements of the time while retaining the fundamentals of our great religion. He said that the struggle for supremacy of parliament must be continued.    He said that it was praiseworthy that through the collective struggle of   politicians, advocates, media and civil society, we had been successful in reviving the democracy and independence of judiciary.
