Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Speaker, assumed the Chair and proceedings commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and its Urdu translation followed by Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool (PBUH).
Mr Speaker extended New Year 2015 felicitation to the Members and prayed for the prosperity and welfare of Pakistan.
Fateha
The House offered fateha for the victims of Anarkali Fire Tragedy and Rangers soldiers martyred due to Indian firing at Shakargarh Border.
Question Hour
Questions relating to Finance, Information & Culture and Population Welfare Departments were asked and Rana Babar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Finance and Rana Muhammad Arshad, Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Culture answered the questions. Due to absence of the Provincial Minister for Population Welfare Ms. Zakiya Shahnawaz all the questions related to the Department were postphoned till next session on her special request.
Adjournment Motions
Three Adjournment Motions were taken up. Two Motions were moved by Mian Tariq Mehmood, one regarding corruption by patwaris through over charging at District Gujrat and non initiation of disciplinary action against the wrong doers, second Motion regarding nepotism prevalent in Revenue Department Kharian and the officers of the department are receiving heavy amount from patwaris to post them as per their place of interest and allotting them more than one area of work place and last Motion of Sheikh Ala-ud-Din regarding export of expired and unhygienic meat by a Chinese firm to Pakistani company which is a supplier of known franchise in Pakistan “MacDonald’s” and this meat is harmful for health of general public, were disposed of.
The Motions were answered by Ch. Nazar Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary for Law & Parliamentary Affairs.
Government Business
General Discussion on Grievances of Sugarcane Growers
Mr. Bilal Yasin, Minister for Food initiated the General Discussion on Grievances of Sugarcane Growers. The following Members participated in the discussion: Mr. Muhammad Asif Bajwa, Advocate, Mr. Tariq Mehmood Bajwa, and Mr. Amjad Ali Javaid.
At this stage, the quorum was pointed out and the House was then adjourned till 3:00 p.m on Monday, 5th January, 2015.
