Sahibzada Haji Muhammad Fazal Kareem, son of Maulana Muhammad Sardar Ahmed (a renowned scholar of Islam), was born on October 24, 1954 in Faisalabad. He did M.A. Islamiat (Sanad of Tanzeem-ul- Madaris) from Jamia Rizwia, Faisalabad, in 1987. He is a businessman and religious scholar, who started his political career in 1977 by actively participating in the Tehreek-e-Nizam-e-Mustafa. In 1978, he was unanimously elected the General Secretary of the Jamiat-e-Ahle-Sunnat and thereafter as Senior Vice-President. He was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in 1993 and, has been re-elected in 1997.
