Mian Imran Masood, son of Mian Masood Akhtar, was born on May 25, 1963 at Kharian, District Gujrat; and, is a law graduate (LL.B.). A businessman, who served as member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from 1990 to 1993, 1993 to 1996; and, has been re-elected, for the third consecutive term, in 1997. He functioned as Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Population Welfare Departments from 1990 to 1993; and, as member, Public Accounts Committee No 1 of the Assembly from 1993 to 1996. He is Joint Secretary, Pakistan Muslim League (Punjab); and, visited Indonesia in 1992 in connection with 'population welfare', Tashkent and China.

Chaudhry Ghulam Sarwar, son of Chaudhry Addalat Khan, was born on January 14, 1938 in Gujrat; and, is a matriculate. An agriculturist, who has actively been supporting the cause of Pakistan Muslim League. He was first elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in 1990; and, has been re-elected in 1997.

Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain, son of Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi (former MNA), was born in 1960 in Gujrat; is a graduate; and, comes of a renowned political family. A businessman, who is President, Pakistan Muslim League, District Gujrat. He served as member District Council Gujrat during 1987-91. He was first elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in 1993; and, has been re-elected in 1997. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Interior Minister, is his brother, and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Speaker Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, his brother-in-law.

CHAUDHRY PARVEZ ELAHI

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi (Speaker), son of Chaudhry Manzoor Elahi, was born on November 1, 1945 in Gujrat; and, comes of a distinguished political family. He graduated in 1967, and obtained diploma in Industrial Management from London. An industrialist, who has been Chairman, District Council Gujrat. He has continuously been serving as member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since 1985, having been elected in 1985, 1988, 1990, 1993, and for the fifth consecutive term, in 1997. He held the portfolio of the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development from 1985 to 1986, 1988 to 1990 and 1990 to 1993. During 1993-1996, he functioned as Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, and also acted as Leader of the Opposition. He was unanimously elected as Speaker (Suspended upon proclamation of Emergency dated 12-10-99), Provincial Assembly of the Punjab in February 1997.

He functioned as Parliamentary Secretary for Social Welfare and Zakat Departments during 1988-90 and 1990-93; and, as Minister for Population Welfare in 1993.
